As many of you all know, my very first job was working at the Cowart Family/Ashford Dunwoody Y as a Membership Associate. For the past 4 years, I have been working in several capacities to not only understand what the Y does but actively take part in helping the Y fulfill its mission. I have worked closely with our Day Camp, Youth Sports and Child Care departments for the past few years making sure our mission remains open to all families. The need for organizations like the Y is tremendous in communities across Atlanta; As the cost for providing child care and youth development programming, in a safe capacity, becomes more expensive by the year, it's great to know there's an organization that has been leading the way in creating child care and youth development programming for all families in Atlanta for 160 years.
I wasn't quite sure what I could say to a friend, colleague, or even family member to encourage them to make a gift to our cause. But then I remembered that the best way to make a case for support is to make a gift myself. I wish I could pack every story and every family I have had the opportunity to work with in this short piece, but I'd be better off writing a novel.
The YMCA of Metro Atlanta makes a significant difference in the lives of 250,000 individuals in our communities, every day. That’s why I’m proud to be a Y Champion for the YMCA.
So much more than a gym and a great place to swim, the Y develops vital programs and services for ALL people in Metro Atlanta to reach their full potential. Today, 1 in 4 children, teens, and families needs financial assistance to be a part of the Y. As a charitable nonprofit, the Y relies on donations from people like you and me.
Please join me and support the Y with a gift today.
