Dear Y Champion,
I am deeply involved in my academics and community. For my entire academic career I have dedicated my time to the YMCA and its mission. We strive to empower youth and develop fundamental life skills through all of our programs. All of our programs focus on youth development, heathy living, and social responsibility. The success of a community is dependent upon the youth. Community involvement allows youth to gain hands on experience and develop character, confidence, and essential leadership skills. Because I was once a participant of the exhilarating programs we offer I understand the positive benefits. The skills I learned have manifested in my life and ignited a passion for youth. I am grateful that my experience has come full circle; I am now able to impact my community and mentor youth the way I was once mentored.
Because of my consistent involvement I have been granted the opportunity to take our mission global. In previous years I traveled abroad to mentor other youth and share my experience as a youth leader. This year I have been selected to go to The Republic of Georgia. While in Georgia, my team will work with local YMCA teens to create and host a day camp for under resourced children. I have been granted the opportunity to impact a community other than mine. During this years’ service project I will be serving as a “Global Senior Ambassador”. I will be responsible for leading other youth during this process. Along our journey I must relay the importance of philanthropy, and share my personal experiences. My desire is to get those who make a pledge involved with the teens I impact on a daily basis. After making a donation it would be my honor for you to spend a day at the YMCA interacting with our teens.
The total cost of this service opportunity is 3,000 dollars. I do not expect you to cover the entire cost. However I would like to get my community involved. Your support enables me to support others in a different country. I want to lead this year’s fundraising process differently. I want more than just your pledge I desire your time. There is no gift too big or too small. This trip will be a part of my legacy at the YMCA as I transition to college. I hope to raise 3,000 dollars by April 1st 2017.
