This summer i was selected to serve on a team travelling to Costa Rica as a team leader through the YMCA of Metro Atlanta Global Service Leadership Program. The trip involves working with teens from the Costa Rica YMCA to create day camp experiences for chidren who otherwise would be unable to afford to attend.
I have been a part of the YMCA so long it feels as if I was born there. My Mother Nicky works at the Y and iintroduced me through the YMCA summer camp at a very young age.My experiences at the Y have been the following: Preschool, Gymnastics, Swim Lessons, Summer Camp, Youth Soccer, Teen Leadership Program ,High Harbour Resident Camp. I have been volunteering every summer as a Junior Counselor for the past three years and got my first paid job as a soccer referee.
I am going on this trip because it is an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Meeting people from different cultures and different ethinic backgrounds has always been interesting to me. Knowing that I will be able to create an experience for those who would normally be unable to afford daycamp. I had so much fun and met so many new people when I was in camp that I would consider myself selfish to not attempt to give this same experience to others.
As a part of this trip, It is my responsibilty to raise 3,000 dollars. I will be working to earn this money for the trip. To support my work in Costa Rica I am reaching out to ask if you would consider making a tax-deductible donation to the YMCA on this personal fundraisnig page.
Your gift will make it possible to grow as a leader and sere others in Costa Rica.
Thank you for your support and please let me know if you have any questions about my trip
