...and you probably also already know that I am a paid fundraiser for The Y. But this page is personal and allows me to talk about why I don't have to this, I get to do this. And there is my normal ask well below, please keep reading but as you know, right now is wildly different and soo much more important! It means that we are-
- Providing emergency childcare for the healthcare industry. Doctors and Nurses and First Responders who are on the front lines taking care of all of us right now (think about colleagues of Emily and Ashton...),
- All our regular hunger relief efforts are deployed, but maybe in a different format, but a larger scale than ever before in partnership with city and county school systems, the Atlanta Community Food Bank and many others,
- Launching Operation REACH to seniors in our community to be sure that they have everything they need
- branch blood drives to come very soon, creating socially distanced safe sites for the Red Cross in areas most needed.
For people of all ages who might live in my community but that one number different might mean that their life looks much different from mine, and yours.
With my role at The Y I have to see kiddos who live in poverty, maybe who need a champion, be paired with a mentor, who reminds them just how amazing they are. But I get to see them run their first 5k with their mentor because of a partnership with other nonprofits in the area.
In my role at The Y I have to find the funds to support hunger relief through summer lunches, backpack programs and school pantries. But I get to see families who only take just what they need on pantry day so there's enough for all, kiddos who can't wait to share their most recent grade on a test with one of our volunteers who engage with them instead of just delivering a lunch.
At the Y my role means I have to secure donations for some of our teens to experience camp for the first time. I get to read letters from them (and their parents) about how they heard about Christ for the first time, or can see their future in a different way now because they know they can chart a new course with their grades and see themselves as a leader.
The Y does all this and so much more. Let me buy you coffee and tell you more stories about what I get to see and experience everyday. Seniors, teens and children are being impacted everyday, and I promise that by giving you'll be impacted too!
You get to change lives by making a gift.
With just one number different in the amount you give you can make even more possible.
