Friends and Family:
You made it to my Y campaign page!
I wanted to share a special photo with you. This is my very first UGA game (Now, I am a hard core ROLL TIDE fan) so I never thought I would be at a UGA game... The really special back story to this photo is that we really didn't think Jared would be a UGA student. When Jared was younger he was a little shy, a lot awkward and an average student. He didn't assimilate well in school, he had few friends and did not interact with the rest of the students well. In just three short years the YMCA completly changed his life. He joined the leaders club and soon became the Teen Leader. They taught him to interact with people, he actually loved doing fundraising over the phone. They gave him the confidence to be himself. Before I knew it he was working at the YMCA. They taught him responsibility and accountability. A shy and awkward boy grew into a confident and accomplished young man under the watch of the YMCA. For that - I will always be greatful.
Please give to my page so we can help many youth like Jared. Youth development is not our only focus. At the YMCA you can find your passion.
Just look below to see how we support the community.
Where does your money go?
Summer Day Camp: You dollars could go to sponsor day camps for youth that otherwise would not have the opportunity
Farm Fresh Markets: Mini Farmer's markets, set up in 3 of the Cobb County food deserts, to increase access to fresh produce. Farm Fresh served community members by giving away more than 13,000 lbs of produce.
Active Older Adults: Senior Adults are giving the opportunity to stay healthy and active through trips and interaction
Teens: wonderful programs to promote community service, membership and leadership skills
School's out lunch program: Close to 50% of Cobb County school children are on free/reduced lunch. When school is out these same children often go without a healthy lunch. We make and deliver healthy lunches to apartment complexes all the weeks of school break.
Learn to Swim: Builds water safety awareness for kids living in local apartment complexes who may not receive these skills otherwise. These kids participate in Safety Around Water in 4 apartment communities. Kids also can learn to swim at the Y through financial assistance.
Togetherhood: is a member driven initiative including drives for books & school supplies, community movie nights and a back to school event.
Thank You for your donation and helping me support an organization that I love.
