Dearest friends and family:
Thank you for making it to my Y campaign page!
The YMCA was my first community when we moved to Marietta, Ga in 2010. Jack was just 18 months old, Tony was traveling a lot for work and I was alone. We joined "The Y." I met friends, developed my obsession with spinning and found a place where we were welcomed and belonged. Sydney was just 3 months old when she got her membership. These people are our family, our community. This is where they learned how to swim, play sports...this is where they BELONG.
where does your money go?
Summer Day Camp: kids experienced camp through YMCA campership
Farm Fresh Markets: Mini Farmer's markets, set up in 3 of the Cobb County food deserts, to increase access to fresh produce. Farm Fresh served community members by giving away more than 13,000 lbs of produce.
Active Older Adults: Senior Adults participate in Y lunch & learn, programs and volunteer services.
Teens: building programs to promote community service, membership and leadership skills.
School's out lunch program: Close to 50% of Cobb County school children are on free/reduced lunch. When school is out these same children often go without a healthy lunch. We make and deliver healthy lunches to apartment complexes all the weeks of school break.
Learn to Swim: Builds water safety awareness for kids living in local apartment complexes who may not receive these skills otherwise. These kids participate in Safety Around Water in 4 apartment communities. Kids also can learn to swim at the Y through financial assistance.
Togetherhood: is a member driven initiative including drives for books & school supplies, community movie nights and a back to school event.
The Y matters to me and to so many children and families! Please take a moment to watch the video to the right and then click "DONATE"
