Hello... My name is Izaiah Hooper and I am a junior at Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. In my free time I enjoy hanging out with my friends and volunteering at my local YMCA. I play video games, and sports, and have homework everyday like most teens do, but here are some things that make me different. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 13 and I've raised money for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). I have paged for the Georgia Senate twice now, I've won multiple awards with my school for "Pride" and "Spirit", and I've got written letters of appreciation from multiple Senators in Georgia. These are just some of the things that I've done over the past couple of years
Today I am the vice president of the youth leadership program at my YMCA. I've been apart of this program for 3 years now and plan on being in it even more. Being apart of this leadership program has helped me become a better leader, and it has helped me to guide many others onto the path of being a great leader as well. Being a leader is more than telling people what to do, being a leader is creating a path for others to follow and leading others to help them to where they want to be. Here at the YMCA leadership club I have learned many of these skills and met and made many friends
This upcoming summer there will be a trip to The Republic of Georgia in Europe for a select amount of YMCA leaders. You must be an attentive member and then you must go through an interview process... I was selected to go on this life changing trip. On this trip we will be helping out at a YMCA there called camp orange and while we're there we will build more leadership skills to bring back to our own communities to use. Another thing we will gain from this journey is a new appreciation for the country, new friendships, and more experience in life.
The required amount to go on this trip is $3,000 by May 1st 2020. I know what you were thinking when you read that "$3,000?! That's a lot of money for such short time!". Trust me I know it is, but I also know with the help of all of you I can reach this goal. any amount of donation will help. Being able to go on this trip isn't just for a benefit for me, it's a benefit for the community around me too.
Thank You so much,
