Every Y supporter has their own Y story.
Mine was typical--I attended YMCA day camp as a child, and my son actively participated in YMCA team sports. But a few years ago, while working with the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta through my job at Coxe Curry & Associates, I learned that the Y does so much more.
I learned about the more than 13,000 meals that the Cobb Y serves to children during holidays and summers when school is out of session. I learned about the hundreds of children for whom English is a second language who are prepared for Kindergarten through three "Little School" sites throughout the county. I learned about the fresh produce delivered to seniors, and the free water safety lessons offered at area apartment complexes. I learned that more than $300,000 is invested back into the community in Cobb County alone through the generosity of the Y's members and the community at large.
Now, as a representative of Marietta City Schools, I have the privilege of serving on the advisory board of the McCleskey/East Cobb YMCA. And I want others to know about all the good that the Y does!
Each day, the Y works to ensure our community has the support it needs to be its best. The Y has worked to ensure local children have the help they need to prepare for kindergarten, stay on-track in school, grow as leaders, and learn how to contribute to a stronger community. Through wellness and hunger relief programs, the Y helps people of all ages stay active and healthy. But, the Y needs your support of the WHY IT MATTERS Annual Giving Campaign to make this possible.
I’m proud to be a Y Champion, and I am asking you to join me in my efforts to give all people in our community a chance to reach their full potential at the Y.
Your gift will truly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need the Y most.
