I hope everyone is staying safe and sane! Covid-19 has left many of us hunkering down at home. Just overnight we’ve become home-school teachers, video chat experts and DIY project queens and kings. But the outbreak has also left many jobless, others without childcare and some concerned about the safety of their loved ones. If you’re sitting at home wondering how best to help those in need, I ask that you strongly consider supporting the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
The YMCA has served the Atlanta community for more than 160 years. Now in the face of the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, the Y is stepping up to the plate and adapting their programs to meet the most pressing needs of Atlanta’s children, seniors and families. While their doors are closed for their traditional programs, they are serving the community through three core initiatives:
• Emergency childcare for essential workers
• Hunger relief for children, families and seniors
• Outreach to seniors
I, like many of you, grew up going to the Y for basketball tournaments, camps and summer days a the pool. The Y was there for me growing up, and now it’s time for us to be there for the Y. During these unprecedented times, the support of the community is more critical than ever. Please join me and support the Y by making a donation today. Your gift will truly make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need the Y most right now.
